That commitment was put to the test recently when a gas plant south of Grande Prairie, AB experienced an upset caused by reboiler tube failures, introducing TEG heat medium product into their amine system. What followed was a fast-paced series of urgent orders, supply chain creativity, and cross-team collaboration; all handled with Quadra’s hallmark reliability and responsiveness.
Strategic Solutions in Action
1. Restoring Nearby Sister Plant’s Supply
After this facility decided to drain its system to half-volume to mitigate contamination, they borrowed a half a truckload of product from a nearby sister plant operated by the same company, draining this sister facility’s entire stored amine supply in the process.
Quadra responded within 72 hours, delivering a full volume replacement to the other plant. To add another layer of assurance, we pre-positioned additional amine drums at Quadra’s Clairmont facility, ensuring a safety net in case either customer facility experienced any unplanned downtime before their next bulk order.
2. Creative Solutions to Heat Medium Product Inventory Constraints
After the reboiler tube leak, the gas plant soon needed a rush order of TEG heat medium product to replace what was lost into the amine system. But Quadra’s inventory in Clairmont was stretched thin. Instead of waiting on traditional channels, we drained the last three totes on-site and coordinated a federally licensed truck to cross the border into Dawson Creek, BC to collect the balance from the stocked inventory at our satellite partner, Curtis York Trucking.
One day later, the full order was delivered. Fast thinking, fast action.
3. On-Call Commitment
Sunday, March 30, 7:00 AM. While camping with his family, Quadra’s Account Manager received a text from the gas plant control board: a full truckload of additional product was needed immediately.
Without hesitation, Quadra’s Account Manager connected with both our operations team in Edmonton and our logistics partners, and built a delivery plan that morning. Product was scheduled to load on Tuesday, April 1, with delivery that evening or by Wednesday morning, depending on drive time.
